Specification Sheet for 2008

SPECIFICATIONS: This publication is printed using the offset lithography process and is perfect bound. The trim size is 8 3/8 x 10 7/8. Standard yellow, cyan (blue), magenta (red), and black are used for four-color process, covers, and special pages only. Unless specifically stated, spot color will be achieved with process color (no pms).

DOCUMENT LAYOUT APPLICATION: Macintosh format or Mac compatible software only - Quark Xpress (preferred). P.C. formatted files accepted but require special attention. High Res PDF files can be processed but must be 300 dpi, fonts embedded, and images attached. Spreads should be created as two pages (double-trucks).

DOCUMENT NAME: Documents should have specific individual names for exact identification (named with Advertiser Name, not Publication name).

DOCUMENT SIZE: Create document at trim size for full page and spread ads. Allow at least an 1/8 inch for bleeds. Varied ad sizes are listed below.

AD SIZES:
Color – Life in the Valley

FONTS: Supply Screen Fonts and Printer Fonts for all fonts used. Do not use system fonts (supplied
with your computer operating system). Fonts from a reliable source are recommended. Those from undocumented sources should be tested and made workable before being used in live jobs.

IMAGES: Supplied in CMYK format, or scheduled for conversion, proofed and approved before output. Resolution of 300 dpi (120 pixels per cm) preferred. Images should be scanned at or scaled in Photoshop to the size they will be used, and placed in Quark at 100% (when sized in Quark below 50% or above 125% image quality is affected). Picture boxes should be colored 0% of C,M,Y, or K (a background fill of None can cause problems with some image file formats).

LOGOS & GRAPHICS: Should be supplied in their native application – Adobe Illustrator (preferred) or Freehand. Save type as outlines if possible or supply screen and printer fonts used. For Illustrator files set Object Attributes at 2540.

LASER PRINTS / PDF FILES: B/W or Color Laser Prints need to be supplied as a proof for each ad. Low Res PDF files can also be supplied for all files to be output.

PRODUCTION CHARGES: In the event an advertiser prefers that Wasatch Mountain Publishing compose and produce their ad, an estimate will be given followed by a contract for any design work performed. All production costs to be paid prior to publication of the Magazine.

FILES READY FOR PRINT: All PDF files ready for print should be e-mailed to graphics@lifeinthevalley.com, along with a laser print proof and hard copy on disk mailed to Wasatch Mountain Publishing at 165 S. Main Street, #B100, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Advertisements on disk can also be mailed to the address above along with the proof, or your sales representative will be glad to work out a time in order to collect the materials.
